LIMUNOVA PITA (2004-2017)

A completely weird but lately extremely productive band, that never gained an important place in the Pula Rock scene, yet they are always here working hard and releasing album after album. Most of their work are humorous personal and less personal stories, but sung in croatian. Funny!

77 (1982-1984)

77 was a Punk band that played a kind of darkened depressive Punk, existed just few years but played a lot of gigs. They recorded a two track demo in Ljubljana, but that recording`s gone lost. (Meanwhile, the lost recordings were sent to me by a dear old friend !!) And except of that, there is part of their live performance at the Mladi Pulski Rock festival held in Pula 1983.

THREE STUPID DOGS (1998-)

A so called "supergroup" from Pula, made of musicians with previous/simultaneous experience in many other bands. Playing as a cover band, TSD recorded a studio recording and were a regular band on parties and biker meetings. After a pause of two years, the band is coming back and getting ready to play on regular basis again.

Update 2020: except for few reunion sporadical shows, the band never continued on a serious basis.

ZHEL (1995-)

One of the most outstanding, yet mysterious artists from Pula, Zeljko Vukicevic a.k.a. Zhel started the ZHEL project with many guest musicians in 1995 (Zhel was his pseudonym from 1992/3, but decided later to call this band Zhel), but personally Zeljko is involved in music and the Pula Rock scene since the end of the 70s. With the ongoing activities of his project, the line-up which became more or less stable started to play as a band named ZHEL around 1996/97 .Zeljko is now living and working in London, he is actively involved in video art and movies, so on April 11th, Zeljko will perform a video installation in Pula. And he is still carying the band on, more as a personal project.

Here is a brand new band hailing from Pula and playing (by their words) old school HC/Punk that nowadays no none in Pula ever plays, except for the old bands.The band already played some gigs, and one of them even in Slovenia. This is their first recording and there is no doubt we will hear more from them in the future.

GORI USSI WINNETOU (1985-2009)

When it comes to the work of Franci Blaskovic (the so-called guru of Istrian Rock, about him and his work in a separate post), it is absolutely impossible to sum up all the recordings of his bands/projects, as this hyperactive guy works on a lot of fronts at once. This post will be concentrated only on his work with his basic band Gori Ussi Winnetou (of which he is the only true member). With this band Franci since 1986 released more than 100 albums, and no one knows when will he stop. As it is absolutely impossible to have all his albums (I even bet he don`t have them all too), here you will find the stuff found and not released through major labels.

MESSERSCHMITT (1987-)

Messerschmitt were one of the bands that became relatively known much wider than inside the croatian borders. Born in the last years of the past state (Yugoslavia), Messerschmitt were created by Miro Kusacic, a person well known inside the Pula Rock scene of the 80s (Pusteni S Lanca, Boykot Fur, WGP) and were dedicated to a completely new musical path for Miro, Garage Blues Rock. Through the years, the band constantly changed the personnel, except for Miro who was the constant prom the beginning to the (possible) end. Even after years of inactivity, the status of the band is still unknown. Meanwhile, Miro started his new band JUNKERS 5.

CANNONE (2001-)

Cannone aka Hrvoje Levak is surely the most active and successful rapper from Pula, with a respectful number of albums from 2003 on. All his stuff is sung in croatian language, which gives him a bigger note of originality. On the last album "Apokalistra", Cannone sampled one of the most known song by istrian Pop singer Alen Vitasovic, "Ja ne gren".

NOLA (1993-)

Nola is one of the most popular bands from Pula ever. Founded in 1993. by one of the most romantic pair around, Gabrijela and Marijan Jelenic, this electro-acoustic band quickly topped the radio-charts with their first huge hit "Dio Tebe", a song that nowadays is in the top ten of the most played songs on the radio of the croatian history. Every further album brought Nola another huge hit and acknowledgements wherever they played. Gabi is elected as the best croatian female rock singer in 1998, and the song "Iznad Oblaka" as croatian song of the year 2009. Seems like there is no stop for their successful carreer.

Their last huge hit, the beautiful song "Iznad oblaka" is another video recorded in the streets of Pula, as well as at the Pula train station (The picture up is taken at the video recording session)
